FifthChair survives on the generosity of those that support bridge education. All of those who assist our mission with their time and finances are greatly appreciated, for without them we could not carry on our desire to promote the game of bridge.

Fifth Chair is entirely staffed and all services are provided by volunteers. Fifth Chair volunteers are people who are willing to contribute their time and expertise to bringing a new generation of players into the game they love.

There are several available volunteer positions. If there is a specific niche you would like to fill, but do not find it listed below, please contact us with your interests and qualifications.

Patience, tact, and good organizational skills are key characteristics of a successful Program Manager. Program Managers make three reports each year to the Fifth Chair board on the status of their programs. These are long-term positions and record-keeping is involved.

Mentors
Mentors are advanced players who agree to play at least one one-hour learning session with their adopted learner per week (an average), answer questions via e-mail, and generally support their learner’s bridge education process. Experience, patience, interest, and humor are important characteristics of the successful mentor. When mentors receive their assigned learner they will also get a list of suggestions and guidelines about mentoring. Fifth Chair Program Managers place beginners, novices, and intermediate players with mentors.

If you would like to apply to be a mentor, please contact us.
